BIP-81: Eternum Season 1 prize fund
Proposal Summary:
This is a proposal that the DAO allocates 1 million $LORDS from the DAO treasury as the prize pool injection for Eternum Season 1. The 1 million $LORDS will be distributed across three different pots as follows:
Pot 1: Victory Points Leaderboard (PVP) - 300k $Lords Prize pool for top tribes at the end of the game.
Pot 2: Achievement Points Leaderboard (PVE/PVP) - 300k $Lords Prize pool for players that have actively participated in the season at a high effort / skill level.
Pot 3: Game and community incentives - 400k $Lords Prize pool covering a range of in-game activities - including interacting with agents and building culture - that can be obtained by casual players. Although this is a large percentage, it is covering a lot more players than Pot 1 and Pot 2.
Proposal notes
Note: This proposal was pre-shared for discussion and faced no objection.
a. BIP 75 passed stating that Lords emissions would move in-game, with 6 million Lords earmarked from Season 2 onward. The BIP stated that the prize pool for Eternum S1 will be determined through a separate BIP. This is the separate BIP indicated.
b. The game design has evolved between seasons, leading to a restructured prize fund. The goal is to broaden the player base - for example by giving casual players more to do - and in doing so bootstrap the broadening of the game’s economy.
c. Season 0 included a prize pot for creators. We have removed this and will share a separate BIP to unlock promotional funds.
d. Season 1 is in development, and will change between now and release. The prize pots cover the direction, but allows a degree of flexibility during development and testing. The full details will be outlined in game documentation before Season start, with the note that calculations and criteria that would allow farming / botting will be guarded until season end.
e. The total of one million $Lords is in keeping with the rate established for Season 2 onward. It is a headline amount to aid player recruitment.
Execution
Each pot has different delivery mechanisms, and will be distributed both during the season and in the weeks afterward by the Eternum development team who will supply wallet after BIP finishes.
