STATUS QUO: Emissions continue as they are indefinitely VOTE "NO" on BIP-77 and "NO" on BIP-79

6 MONTH PHASE-OUT 0-3 Months: Emissions continue as they are 3-6 Months: Emissions cut by 50% 6+ Months: Emissions cut entirely VOTE "NO" on BIP-77 and YES on BIP-79

3 MONTH PHASE OUT 0-3 Months: Emissions cut by 50% 3+ Months: Emissions cut entirely VOTE "YES" on BIP-77 and "YES" on BIP-79

tl;dr If BIP-77 passes (immediate reduction of emissions to Realms by 50%):

  • Emissions to Realms holders cease in 3 months If BIP-77 does not pass:
  • Emissions to Realms holders continue as they are for 3 months
  • After 3 months, emissions are decreased by 50%
  • After 6 months, emissions cease

WHEREAS: The DAO has voted against the immediate cessation of emissions to Realms WHEREAS: It is generally agreed that emissions to Realms should ultimately cease WHEREAS: There are reasonable differences of opinion regarding the optimal way to terminate Realms emissions

WHEREAS: The DAO is a honeypot WHEREAS: Where there is a honeypot, there is always a non-zero risk of DAO capture and we wish to reduce this risk to an acceptable level WHEREAS: There are reasonable differences of opinion regarding what is an acceptable level of risk of DAO capture

WHEREAS: Eternum Season 1 is coming shortly and we are desirous to move past debate on this issue, root out ill feeling in the DAO, and focus together on building and promoting Eternum WHEREAS: It is intended, but not required, that this BIP work in conjunction with BIP-77, which immediately reduces emissions to staked Realms by 50% WHEREAS: Compromise is essential to enable the DAO and the Realms community to again flourish

NOW, THEREFORE it is agreed:

  1. If BIP-77 passes (immediate reduction of emissions to Realms by 50%), emissions to Realms holders cease in 3 months from the approval of this BIP.
  2. If BIP-77 does not pass, the following emissions schedule to Realms holders will be implemented:
  • Through 3 months from the date of approval of this BIP, emissions to Realms holders continue at current rates.
  • From three months from the date of approval of this BIP through 6 months from the date of approval of this BIP, emissions are decreased by 50%
  • After 6 months from the date of approval of this BIP, emissions cease entirely
